As Friends of the Tuskegee Airmen National Historic Site, Inc., we're dedicated to preserving this fantastic American history on the actual site where the world-famous training took place. Moton Field in Tuskegee, AL was the only primary flight facility for African-American pilot candidates in the U.S. Army Air Corps (Army Air Forces) during WWII.
You’ll be in awe hearing the stories of the Tuskegee Airmen when you visit the Tuskegee Airmen National Historic Site located off I-85 at Exit 38 in Tuskegee, AL. There's so much to learn and experience at this incredible museum.
Hangar 1 shows you what Primary Training at Moton Field was like with a Stearman bi-plane and J-3 Piper Cub on display. Hangar 2 gives you a firsthand look at the vehicles operated by the Airmen after deployment overseas. A P-51 Mustang, the spectacular WWII fighter aircraft flown by the famous Tuskegee Airmen “Red Tails”, is suspended from the ceiling in Hangar 2. The Skyway Club is where Airmen socialized. Many famous entertainers from that era visited this club.
The first African-American airmen as well as women were true heroes, and we've made certain that their sacrifices are not forgotten. Our mission has been to help assist the National Park Service, who preserves, protects, and commemorates the Tuskegee Airmen National Historic Site.
We're a special organization working with the National Park Service to help preserve the legacy of the Tuskegee Airmen and the National Historic site at Moton Field.
Their directive has been to raise funds and draw public attention to a certain American history that many people don't even know about. Whether it's providing community outreach activities or hiring volunteers for a variety of projects, we're always looking to make new friends.
