My father was a B17 tale gunner. Stationed in Foggia Italy. He said he always felt better when the Tuskegee Airman flew cover for them, he felt safe!
My experience is always enjoyable. I grew up in Tuskegee and still live here. But I do not recall being taught anything about the Redtails. But I take evert opportunity to tell people (young and old) about the Redrails. I love visiting and eventually I happened to see one of my old English teachers pictures, as she wS a part of the organization from years ago. I cannot remember her first name but, her last names was Davis.
Hello. Please excuse the delay in response. The lady you are referring to may have been Winifred Davis. Col. Palmer Sullins
important preservation of a historic and admirable group. it is very good to teach future generations about history and the lessons that come from that.
We enjoyed our time at Tuskegee University, and seeing the sights -- including Moton Field, the base for the famous Tuskegee Airmen. The training process was fascinating, and the Tuskegee Airmen had amazing accomplishments.
I visited Moton Field along with the Tuskegee Historic site as they right across a small drive way from each other. There a few cool plaques and little memorabilia to see. The parking is easier at the park across the way, as it seems the road the field is on is mostly stones and parking is for Park Rangers. Overall, a good site to see along with the hangars at Tuskegee.
Great historic experience! The videos and personal tours were excellent...a 'must repeat' destination!
Thank you for your kind words and feedback.
